Your Coaches

Gill Vic half Oct 2015 finishGillian Goerzen

I’ve been running for over 20 years. I’ve had the opportunity to complete a variety of distances including 5k’s to Ironman Triathlon and everything in between. In those 18 years I’ve had many an injury. To some degree, injuries are part of running. But what injuries serve to do is highlight underlying imbalances and weaknesses.  So, while frustrating, with every one of those injuries I know I’ve become a stronger, more efficient runner. Over the years as a coach I’ve been able to incorporate my personal experience with injuries and my professional experience as a Personal Trainer and Run Coach to help my runners tweak their form and strengthen their bodies and (hopefully) run injury free. My goal with all my runners (including myself) is to always get them to their “start line” whether they’re running for fitness or performance – smiling and injury free.

Running was a very organic part of my childhood growing up playing rep soccer on the Island. Unfortunately sports injuries and cycles of disordered eating spiralled that foundation so far out of control that I was left with hatred of running and a broken body. Over years of treatment and trialing many types of training on myself, I have found a healthy love and respect for running. As a physiotherapist I have had the opportunity to work with many runners – from recreational 5k’s to ultra marathoners. Helping people pursue their own unique passion for running and get them to their start line is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career .
