One-to-One Counselling
Are you looking to move from struggling or surviving to thriving? I believe we are all born to thrive, but sometimes life happens. We pick up unhelpful narratives from our culture that impact our self-worth, we experience traumatic events without the support to process them, or we simply aren’t presented with the tools, information, and resources we need to navigate the world. This isn’t a matter of blame, but rather an opportunity to heal old wounds, learn some new skills, develop deeply personal insights, and develop a new way of relating to and being in your life so those old wounds no longer impact your present day.
We all need a little help sometimes. Because this “being a human” thing? It’s hard!
Prior to pursuing my Masters in Counselling psychology, I had a flourishing 24-year career as a body-positive coach and Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor. As a therapeutic counsellor, I integrate these bodies of knowledge and insight into my work. My practice and approach is relational, experiential, and client-centred. I am informed by Attachment Theory, Polyvagal Theory, Embodiment, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

How does it work?
Therapy is a collaborative process that is unique to each client. Together we will explore the challenges bringing you to therapy and identify your goals or desired outcomes (ie. where do you want to be/ how do you want to feel at the completion of our work?). From there, I’ll bring forward ideas and suggest approaches to help you navigate and travel towards this. I view this work as a journey where you’re the pilot, and I’m a co-pilot, there to provide resources, support and encouragement.

What’s the difference between Counselling and Coaching?
That’s a great question! The best way I have to describe it is this…
Coaching is about exploring and working with your present and future self. As a health coach, I’m focused on the areas of health and well-being.
Counselling, considers your past self and how the experiences you’ve had in life are impacting the present and potentially the future. As a Counsellor, I’m focused on all areas of impact – your mental, emotional, and physical well-being and your relationships (with self and others).
Both are focused on helping you move forward towards a vision of life that you’ve envisioned (either you’re coming with this vision in hand OR it’s something we will work to create together).
If you’re not sure which one is right for you, feel free to book a Discovery Call and we can sort that out together!
