What makes it festive?! Ummmm, clearly the red & green colour scheme! And that it makes a big batch great for a potluck or family gathering!
Serves: a lot – it would be a good amount for 10-15 on it’s own or more if part of a potluck!
4T sesame oil
4T Tamari (I used GF)
4T rice wine vinegar
1t maple syrup
2T fresh ginger, minced
1/2t garlic powder (I was outbid fresh – I’d use 1 clove minced)
1/2 large green cabbage, shredded
1/4 red cabbage
1 red pepper, chopped finely
1 green pepper, chopped finely
4 stalks of celery, chopped finely
1 can of sliced water chestnuts
4 green onions, chopped
4T sesame seeds
4T almond slivers
In a large bowl mix the dressing ingredients including the ginger & garlic powder and mix well. Layer on the veggies. Mix well. Allow the flavours to mix while you toast the seeds & nuts in a pan. Sprinkle the salad with the toasted seeds & nuts.
Tip: Sprinkle them at the last minute so they stay crunchy!
