My eldest Connor has a nut allergy. So I’ve been meaning to play around with a nut-free power ball recipe. And I created it last night (to rave reviews from all three of my boys!). Here it is:

  • 1/2C sunflower seeds
  • 1/2C hemp hearts
  • 1C coconut
  • 4T (heaping) cacao powder
  • 1/4C chia seeds
  • 2C pitted dates
  • 1T vanilla
  • 1/2C mini chocolate chips

Put the sunflower seeds, hemp hearts and coconut into your food processor and chop until the seeds are chopped finely. Add in the cacao powder and chia seeds. Mix for 3s. Add in the pitted dates & vanilla and mix until it forms a dough like paste (add a few extra dates if needed – amount can depend on how fresh/ soft your dates are). Pull out the “dough” and mix in the chocolate chips manually. Roll into 1T sized balls.
